The 2010 Dillon Snowkite Open will be held on March the 4th, 5th and 6th at the Dillon Marina Area in Dillon Colorado.
The Dillon Snowkite Open will consist of 3 days of racing and freestyle expression sessions. There will be a series with 3 fleet races in a regatta format (races will be scheduled for the most consistent forecasted wind). Plus a long distance race to test the competitors endurance and all out speed. Leaving plenty of time just to let loose and do a little freestyle!
Trophies (nice ones) will be given out for 1st-3rd place in all divisions and categories.
All competitors will receive an event t-shirt and other swag. (only the first 50 to register will get them)
Classes:
• Pro Men - We're not professionals! If you you can keep up with your kite buddies, this is the place for you. (We are working on a cash purse)
• Amateur Men - For the new competitor with less then a years experience.
• Women - Ladies Snowkite too!
Schedule of Events:
| Friday, March 4th | |
| 10:00am-12:30pm | Registration and pre-registration pick up. |
| 10:00am-1:00pm | Warm up, free ride, and wind check. |
| 1:00pm | Competitors race meeting. Will discuss long distance race, scoring and rules for the day. |
| 1:30-2:00pm | Long distance race or freestyle expression session will start no later then 2pm. |
| 7:00pm | Racers welcome party with Beer sponsor, Location TBD |
| Saturday, March 5th | |
| 10:00am -11:00am | Late Registration |
| 11:15am | Competitor Race meeting to discuss Fleet racing, starting divisions and rules. |
| 12:00 (noon) | First Start of Fleet racing. Will try hold as many as 4 races in each division. |
| 4:15pm | No races will start after this time, but may take longer to finish. |
| 5:00pm | Competitor party at the Best Western conference center. (sponsored by SKA Brewing Co.) |
| 8:00pm | Racer Dinner/drinks at local destination. TBD |
| Sunday, March 6th | |
| 11:00am | Complete races if needed. |
| 11:00am | Expression session photo shoot |
| 5:00pm | Trophies and award presentation. |
Lodging:
Lodging will be provided by the Best Western, Ptarmigin Lodge. @ $106 + tax per night Regularly $139/night. The hotel is located at the Event site, on the Dillion Reservoir and across From Pug Ryan's Brewery. You can just about kite from your room! Rooms will be reserved until February 4th so don't delay, you will miss out!
