Download Race Instructions (.pdf)

The Dillon Snowkite Open will consist of 4 days of competition and freeriding. Including a Fleet race, PRO/AM Relay Long distance (winduro), and freestyle / free ride sessions and a demo / trainer kite day. There will be a series of 3 fleet races in a regatta format (races will be scheduled for the most consistent forecasted wind). Leaving plenty of time just to let loose and do a little freeriding!

This Year we are doing something new for the long distance race / winduro. It will be a combined Pro/Am relay race. This is how it will work: Each amateur competitor will pick a Pro's name out of a hat and and they will then be paired for the race. Skiers and snowboards will be mixed together. The Amateur will start the race and kite downwind approximately 5 miles. Once they they reach the down wind mark their Pro kites back up wind to the finish. The pro may coach their partner at the start and help anytime during the downwind leg, but by not affecting any other team. Or wait at the down wind mark with fresh legs until their partner arrives. the team who's Pro finishes first will be the winner. Transportation back to the start/finish will be provided for the amateurs who kite downwind and do not wish to kite back.

The Pro/AM teams will be drawn on Saturday night at Barkley's West, In Frisco. Side betting on the teams (Calcutta) will be encouraged. Own your team or someone else's, depending on who you think will win.

Freestyle will be a judged event by a select few of your peers, skiers judge snowboarders and snowboarders judge skiers. This will have some inflatable features to add to the standard kicker.

Friday and Saturday will be open to the race series. The courses will be set with Windward and Leeward marks and on average may take 15-25 minutes each. With Fast reaching starts and finishes.
Sunday will be the Pro/AM Relay Race.

The goal will be to have Saturday day set aside for kite companies and sponsors to Demo gear to consumers, trainer kite demos and introduce new people to our sport. As long as the racing is complete.
Awards will be given out for 1st-3rd place in all divisions and categories.
All competitors will receive an event shirt and other swag. Sponsored Beer from SKA Brewery will be also available after kiting or on a no wind day, until it's gone.

Raffles are going to be for race competitors only.
